A Peace of Mind, in the Palm of Your Hand
Gluten Validation
Each NIMA Partners capsule is packed with science, including antibodies, a test strip, and a liquid extraction formula. As the test strip develops, an electronic sensor and associated algorithm detect the test result. Reading the results electronically reduces the likelihood of misinterpreting results. The sensing algorithm is improved and updated via Bluetooth connection through the NIMA Partners mobile app. The algorithm can be updated by downloading the latest firmware updates from the app. In less than five minutes, NIMA Partners will provide results.

Our Science
Validation + Accuracy
The NIMA Partners system has been rigorously tested in the lab, in the field and via third parties over thousands of tests. The findings have also been published in peer- reviewed journals. When compared to leading food lab ELISA tests, NIMA Partners is 97% accurate at detecting levels of 20 parts per million (ppm) and above for gluten.
NIMA Partners does ongoing testing. Every manufactured lot of NIMA Partners test capsules is tested for quality.
How It Works
The Basics
The Basics
How to Turn On/Off Press NIMA Partners button to turn it on. NIMA Partners will automatically go to sleep no need to turn it off.
See Last Test Result If you missed your last result, turn NIMA Partners on and wait a few seconds. Test results appear on NIMA Partners screen. The NIMA Partners app also shows all your results when paired.
Capsule Storage Tips Store capsules between 32°F (0°C) and 90°F (32°C). Capsules can only be used once. Please discard old capsules in the trash. Check the expiration date on the back of the capsule prior to use.
How To Test
How To Test
Twist off the top of a new capsule. Using a clean hand or utensil, put a pea-sized amount of food into the capsule.
Fully close the capsule top. As you twist, you'll feel a pop. Continue twisting until you can't see the green ring anymore and the top's edge is aligned with the side.
Insert the capsule into the sensor until you feel a click. Push Nima's button to turn it on. Push it again to start the test. In a few minutes, the screen will show the result.
Result:
- Wheat Symbol = Gluten Found
- Smiley Face = No Gluten Found
- Explanation Point = No Test Result
NIMA Partners Science
NIMA Partners Science
NIMA Partners antibody-based chemistry was developed to detect traces of gluten protein in your food. NIMA Partners is optimized to test for gluten at 20 ppm and above. Regardless of gluten concentration, if NIMA Partners detects gluten, the result will be Gluten Found.
Results Labeling can vary by country so a Gluten Found result may indicate gluten levels less than 20 ppm, which may technically be gluten free by local standards.
NIMA Partners cannot test these foods: Fermented foods (like soy sauce and beer), alcohol (like wine and hard liquor), and few other foods. Nima hasn't been validated for non foods like cosmetics and medicines.

Test Strip
You use a disposable capsule to test food with the NIMA Partners sensor. The capsule contains a test strip preloaded with our antibodies. The antibodies will bind to the protein and present a signal change on the strip that is detected by NIMA Partners proprietary processing algorithm.
-
Liquid Extract Buffer
In order to detect the protein in food, the protein molecules need to be isolated and extracted from the rest of the food molecules. The fluid inside the capsule extraction is capable of breaking apart the bonds between the protein and other food molecules, leaving the protein itself in a liquid solution, which reacts to the strip.

The Sensor
As the test strip develops, an electronic sensor and associated algorithm detect the test result. Reading the result electronically eliminates the need for a trained operator to be evaluating the results and reduces the likelihood of misinterpreting results. The algorithm is improved and updated via Bluetooth connection through the NIMA Partners mobile app. The algorithm can be updated by downloading the latest firmware updates from the app.

Quick Guide to NIMA Partners Test Strip
How to read the test strip
The NIMA Partners gluten sensor works by releasing antibodies into the food sample. These antibodies are designed to bind gluten. The spectrometer then detects these antibodies (not the gluten itself) with the test strip on the back of the capsule.
Best Practices for testing
• Your sample should be no bigger than a pea sized amount.
• High fat foods should be diluted with 2-3 drops of water.
• Collect your sample from areas that are most likely to be contaminated (e.g., char marks).
