Quick Check: Is Your NIMA Sensor Ready?
Why This Matters
Before using your NIMA Sensor again, it’s important to make sure it’s set up correctly and working as expected. This quick guide will walk you through the process step by step — and to help you get started, we’ll give you 50% off your first box of Capsules once you download the app and pair your Sensor. If easier to watch a video with instructions, see the video at the bottom with Michael Elliott, NIMA Chief Manufacturing Officer!
NOTE: If your sensor is from pre-2022, it may not pair with our app. But as long as it can hold a charge, you can use the new capsules and the results will be accurately displayed on the device itself.
What You’ll Need
- Your NIMA Sensor
- A smartphone or tablet with the NIMA Now App
- A charging cable
- Lens cleaning cloth
- Compressed air (optional)
Step 1: Download the App
- Open the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Android).
- Search for “NIMA Now”.
- Download and install the app.
Step 2. Create Your Account
- Open the app.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your account.
Step 3: Charge Your Battery
Connect your sensor to a power source and let it charge for at least 90 minutes.
Step 4: Let Your Sensor Rest for 24 Hours
Step 5: Confirm That Your Sensor Can Hold a Charge
Turn on your Sensor after 24 hours of resting.
Check if your Sensor is showing 3 bars.
If your Sensor is showing 3 bars, you can move forward to Step 6.
If your Sensor is not showing 3 bars, it means that it cannot hold a charge.
You can leave your Sensor plugged in while processing capsules since it will not hold a charge on its own OR you can contact Customer Service at customerservice@nimanow.com to learn how we can help you with acquiring a new Sensor when they are available.
Step 6. Pair Sensor With The App
- Turn on your Sensor.
- Follow the instructions in the app to pair it.
- Look for the “Pairing Successful” message.
If pairing doesn’t work, contact NIMA Support.
Step 7: Update the Firmware
- In the app, go to Settings > Your Gluten Sensor.
- Select Update Your Gluten Sensor.
- If you don’t see this option, your Sensor may be too old for updates. Contact Support for help.
Step 8: Make Sure Your Sensor Is Clean and Ready To Test Capsules
- Use the lint free cloth to gently clean the optical lens inside the Capsule Well.
- Inspect the rest of the well area to ensure that there are no particulates or debris on the inside. Use compressed air or the lint-free cloth to clean out the well.
- Note: do not spray water into the well as there are ingress points where the water will damage the Sensor.
Using a slightly damp cloth is OK if needed.
Step 9: Order Capsules For Testing Your Sensor
- Use the 50% Off coupon code that was sent to your email to order a new box of Capsules.
- You should use up to three Capsules to test your Sensor’s performance.
Step 10: Test with 3 Capsules
- It is recommended that you run 3 Test Capsules with common foods (both gluten-free and containing gluten).
- If all results look accurate – Congratulations! Your Sensor is ready to use again.
- If you see errors, contact NIMA Support.
That’s it! You’ve re-qualified your Sensor and are ready to start testing food with confidence.
